Mission Partners
Therefore, go and make disciples of all the nations..... Matt 28:19
Stirling Baptist Church has a long-standing commitment to commissioning and supporting mission partners. Some mission partners have been supported for life, some are supported for a shorter term. Some serve overseas, some serve locally. SBC's support commitment is delivered through a support group for each mission partner who will communicate with and pray for that person. Financial support may also be given. Overall, our Mission Partners support as well as our Corporate Mission partnership is coordinated by the Global Partners Group.
As at January 2024 our mission partners are:
Judy Homer : World Horizons, Wales
Judy is involved in the work of World Horizons which exists on behalf of places and people not yet prayed for, churches not yet planted and cross-cultural workers not yet sent. She is part of the International Training team and will be teaching on the new Pioneer Initiative Training starting in 2021. Her role also includes member care, supporting those working overseas and debriefing those who return as well as continuing to liaise with teams and churches in West Africa to develop work there amongst those as yet unreached by the gospel.

Jean is working in Southeast Asia where she, and her husband Stewart, first arrived in 1981. Stewart went to be with the Lord in 2018 but Jean continues to work with a local organization that they established. Their goal is to mobilize and mentor the Church to be involved in reaching the unreached people groups in their province but also in the country as a whole.
Jean is involved in preparing prayer material, writing missions material for teens, sharing in churches/prayer meetings and mission seminars. More recently she has become treasurer of her agency and is also spending significant time in translating mission material.

In this role, God has opened many doors for His Word to become real in young people’s hearts (Rev. 3:20). As students, as graduates with families and working in their communities, Shirley is privileged to disciple these young people along their faith journeys.

Cathy
Cathy has been using her skills and experience in working with International Aid organisations in war torn contexts for the past 8 years. Her focus has been on supporting refugees and those displaced due to conflict, recently in Yemen, also in South Sudan and before that in Jordan, with Syrian refugees.
Primarily working through faith based organisations, Cathy’s role as senior leader both influences and empowers local staff and Local based partners to bring about reconciliation to communities ravished by war and restoration and hope to those who have been forced to flee from their homes.

Pam & Paul
Pam and Paul work in a least reached part of the Horn of Africa. In 2020 their team had to leave because of terrorist threats and, although the rest of the team decided not to return, Pam and Paul felt called to go back alone in mid-2021. As part of their commitment to the community, Paul will resume his volunteer work as a clinical mentor in the local hospital. But a lot of their lives involve removing obstacles to a fuller understanding and experience of the love of God in Jesus and sharing the gospel truth at every opportunity, something that takes time and secure relationships.
“We know God is at work in people’s hearts and he has called us to be a part of that work in a difficult and insecure environment among a people He loves and we love”.
